July 6

I've been thinking a lot about that "mosaic" analogy since Thursday's post. Do you remember seeing the advertisement (and forgive me if I have the details wrong, but my memory will probably skew toward my point) where a hand is holding a very unremarkable shard of blue stone? And then the piece is placed in a mosaic where it completes the eye, which is the first attention point of the whole piece?

There are undoubtedly thousands of pieces of glass in that portrait of various colors and intensities. If just one were missing, it would be a diminishing of the whole. But you never know when you will be supplying that morsel that completes the focal point of the whole.

Reminds me of President McKay's lesson---"What e'er thou art, play well thy part." Someone's eternity may depend upon it.
